Crossbow baseline
Crossbow plays around a finite magazine, a reload window, normal bolts, a mine dash attack and an MP-funded special bolt. Magazine and reload values can change between versions, so check the current in-game tooltip before routing a challenge run.
- Normal attack: ranged bolt pressure with movement slowdown while firing
- Dash attack: place a timed or contact-triggered mine
- Special attack: a penetrating bolt that does not consume magazine ammunition
Route one: reload engine
Reload Device changes the special attack into a high-speed reload. Acceleration Core then rewards continuous fire with attack-speed ramping, while Twin fires two projectiles and converts movement speed into more attack speed. Choose this family when the run already offers on-hit, movement or normal-attack support.
- Acceleration Core: consistent high-volume fire
- Twin: mobility scaling and paired shots
- Pivot away if reload support never appears
Route two: Crown Shotgun
Scatter Shot Shooter converts the normal shot into a close-range explosion. Pair that shotgun identity with Golden Crown of Arrogance, Crown of Humility and Explosive Device, then look for Scythe of Berut, Reloading Wooden Crate and Crossbow Quiver. Treat it as a close-range alternative rather than a universal best Crossbow build.
- Commit when both crown effects and reload help are already visible
- Reposition between magazines instead of fighting recoil
- Do not force the route if close-range safety is poor
Route three: Frost Veil
Frost Veil turns the special attack into a timed cold firing state. Rapid Freeze Crystal removes magazine consumption during that state. The alternate frostbite endpoint fires piercing frostbite rounds but fixes the magazine at a small size, so it favors debuff and cold support over general fire rate.
- Rapid Freeze Crystal: uptime and ammunition economy
- Frostbite Device: piercing debuff application
- Check the current fire-rate tooltip before committing to the alternate endpoint
Other viable pivots
Special Bolt Enhancement is the MP-intensive special-attack route. Fire Mine branches into guided bombs or grenades. Unstable Lightning Mark branches into electrocution or storm-cloud generation. Kagumede is the poison and debuff-amplification route. These are different engines, not minor variations of one ranked build.
Version-sensitive limits
Exact coefficients, unlock conditions, endpoint names and route appearance rates may change between versions. Confirm the compendium name and current tooltip before spending a rare upgrade.
