Sephiria Character Effects Guide

Compare 27 characters covered in this Sephiria 1.0 guide, including their effects, trade-offs and build fits. See the Characters catalog for the current roster.

How to read the ratings

The effects below use concise English descriptions of each character-selection modifier. Follow the current in-game tooltip if exact wording or values differ.

The guide score uses a 1–5 scale: roughly 3 is serviceable, 4 is strong and 5 is exceptional in the right build. It is a route-fit score, not a universal tier list, and can change with the weapon, element, co-op role or difficulty.

Rabbits: general stats and party utility

The first eight characters cover broad economy, defense, movement, status damage, recovery, special attacks and co-op support. They are useful baselines because most of their bonuses do not force one exact weapon.

  • Pink Rabbit — +4% EXP drop rate. A clean generalist with no listed penalty; guide rating: 4/5.
  • Armored Rabbit — +10 Defense, but -15 Max HP. The lost health is usually more costly than the extra armor; guide rating: 3.5/5.
  • Brown Rabbit — +12 Evasion, but -4% critical chance. The small critical penalty is easy to offset when an evasion route is available; rating: 4/5.
  • Braided Hair Rabbit — +7% attack speed and +12% movement speed, but -20% dash recovery speed. Strong for normal-attack routes that do not repeatedly spend dash charges; rating: 4/5.
  • Orange Rabbit — +14% damage dealt using debuffs, but -8 Defense. It needs a real burn, poison or other debuff engine rather than treating the percentage as a complete build; rating: 3.5/5.
  • Red-Hooded Rabbit — +50% MP and HP recovery efficiency, but -10 Max MP. The MP loss is mild in a regeneration-focused route; rating: 4/5.
  • White Rabbit — +12% special-attack damage and +8 Max MP, but -15 Evasion. It suits Greatsword, Sword and Shield, Bow or Katana special-attack plans when another defense layer replaces the lost evasion; guide rating: about 3.5/5.
  • Wing-Eared Rabbit — Buff magic also affects players within 5 tiles, while those spells cost 50% more MP; revive time is 30% shorter and weapon damage is 10% lower. This is a unique co-op support pick; guide rating: 4+/5.

Elements, inventory and companions

These seven entries become stronger when the run commits to their named element or subsystem. The elemental characters each trade physical amplification for a starting Grimoire and a large elemental amplification bonus.

  • Red-Clothed Cat — Starts with a fire Grimoire, gains +15% fire damage amplification and loses 20% physical damage amplification. Guide rating: 4.5/5 generally, 5/5 for a committed fire build.
  • Red Fox — +6 backpack slots, but healing and recovery are reduced by 50%. Guide rating: 4/5 normally, 5/5 only in an inventory-heavy setup that can cover the recovery loss.
  • Frog — Starts with a lightning Grimoire, gains +15% lightning damage amplification and loses 20% physical damage amplification. It supports lightning area damage and spell routes; rating: 4.5–5/5.
  • Mole — +10% companion damage, but -20 Defense and -10% movement speed. Let companions attack while a defensive weapon protects the character; guide rating: 4/5.
  • Otter — +9% critical chance, but -8% movement speed. The exchange is close to neutral because both values are easy to replace; guide rating: 3/5.
  • White Wolf — Unlimited dashes, but dash charging is disabled. Current dash-trigger rules keep it from dominating every route; guide rating: 3–4/5.
  • Wizard Rabbit — Starts with an ice Grimoire, gains +15% ice damage amplification and loses 20% physical damage amplification. Guide rating: 4.5/5 generally, 5/5 for a committed ice build.

Dash, conversion and constrained builds

This group can be powerful, but every effect asks the build to accept a visible ceiling or survival cost. Do not select one merely because its positive number looks large.

  • Eagle — +2 dash charges, but -20% dash recovery speed. Useful for effects that count available dashes; guide rating: 3–4/5.
  • Crocodile — Defense no longer grants damage reduction and instead raises damage dealt by the same percentage. The lost survival is too costly for most general routes; guide rating: 2–3/5.
  • Deer — +3 wishing-pool capacity, but -90% critical chance. Starting with more high-rarity build pieces raises the floor while the critical penalty lowers the ceiling; rating: 3–4/5.
  • Lucky Fairy — +7 Luck, but -3 backpack slots. The luck benefit is difficult to feel while the inventory loss is immediate; guide rating: about 3/5.
  • Farmer Squirrel — +2 fruit-skewer capacity, but -14% weapon damage. Two extra tuning slots are too inconsistent for the weapon penalty; guide rating: 2–3/5.
  • Turtle — +15% Artifact damage, but -15% weapon damage. A direct specialist for Artifact-led routes that do not depend on weapon output; rating: 4/5.

Late-roster specialists

The final six include several of the strongest route engines. Their effects are more decisive than small stat trades, so choose the weapon and resource plan around the character.

  • Forest Cat — Starts each exploration with 800 Leaves and gains +10% movement speed, with no listed penalty. The money is flexible enough for an early uncommon item, buff or other purchase; guide rating: 5/5.
  • Ghost — Grimoires no longer consume MP, but weapon damage is reduced by 40%. A top spell route that should avoid weapon-led plans; rating: 5/5.
  • Scholar Lizard — Max MP is fixed at 80 and does not decrease, while Max HP is fixed at 20. Infinite spell resources are exceptional, but high difficulty demands Evasion, Defense or very fast kills; rating: 4–5/5.
  • Wingless Bat — +5 HP drain, while dash charges are fixed at 1. Built-in life steal can erase attrition if Defense or Evasion covers the limited dash; rating: 5/5.
  • Skeleton — Starts with a cursed item and gains +20% damage dealt. An unwanted curse can be discarded, leaving a broad damage bonus; guide rating: 4–5/5.
  • Adventurer Rabbit — +1 dash charge and +10% dash recovery speed, but -50% Grimoire acceleration. Its early mobility is useful, although the spell penalty removes a common transition tool; rating: 3+/5.

Recommended character fits

Forest Cat, Ghost and Wingless Bat are the safest high-rated picks. Elemental specialists can also reach 5/5 when the run matches their element, while Scholar Lizard and Skeleton trade serious constraints for unusually strong engines.

Crocodile and Farmer Squirrel receive the lowest general ratings. That does not make them unusable: character value depends on the route, and even a lower score becomes reasonable when the build directly converts its effect.

Tooltip changes

Character modifiers and interactions can change after balance updates; follow the current in-game value when it differs.

English character and mechanic names may also change. Match the effect and icon when a tooltip uses different wording.
